Sometimes what we need isn’t a conversation,
it’s a place to put our thoughts down.
The Slow Edit now invites you to write to us.
What this is
Letters to The Slow Edit is a quiet, open invitation to write honestly, freely and without pressure.
You can write to us if you:
- need to vent
- want to share something personal
- are carrying a thought you can’t quite place
- feel overwhelmed or stuck
- want someone to hear you
- don’t need advice, just acknowledgment
Not everything needs an immediate response.
Sometimes, being heard is enough.
How it works
You can send your letter to:
There’s no format.
No word limit.
No expectation to be polished.
Write as much or as little as you need.
We read every letter.
When we’re able, we’ll reply, thoughtfully and with care.
If you’re writing just to be heard, we’ll let you know that your words landed with us.
Letters to The Slow Edit is a peer-to-peer reflective exchange, not professional support. Responses are offered with care, but not as therapy, counselling or advice. If you are in crisis, please seek immediate professional help.
What to expect
- Responses may take time. We reply slowly, intentionally and as capacity allows
- Not every letter will receive advice
- Some letters will receive a short acknowledgment
- Others may receive a longer, reflective reply
This is not a live service.
It’s correspondence – human, considered and unhurried.
What this is not
To be clear, Letters to The Slow Edit is not:
- therapy
- counselling
- crisis support
- medical, legal or financial advice
We are not licensed professionals.
We do not provide diagnosis, treatment or urgent intervention.
If you are in distress, unsafe or experiencing a crisis, please contact:
- your local emergency services, or
- a licensed mental health professional
Important boundaries
To protect you and this space, please do not include:
- personal identifying details (full name, address, phone, ID numbers)
- medical or clinical information
- legal matters requiring professional advice
- financial details
- anything involving minors, crime or ongoing investigations
- explicit or abusive content
If a letter crosses these boundaries, we may not be able to reply.
Why we chose letters
Because writing slows us down.
Because words carry weight when they’re not rushed.
Because some truths need space before they need answers.
Letters allow us to meet you with presence, not urgency.
If you’d like to write
You don’t need permission.
You don’t need a reason.
Just write.
We’re here.
We’re reading.
And you’re not speaking into the void.
