Dinner at Buddy Hoagies: A Small Pause Over Comfort Food

It wasn’t a special occasion, just one of those evenings when the week felt long and everyone needed a breather. So we decided to go out for dinner. Nothing fancy, just something warm and fami

At Buddy Hoagies, Waterway Point, the air smelled like grilled meat and buttered potatoes – the kind of smell that instantly makes you feel at ease. No rush. No noise. Just us, my husband, my son, and I, taking a small pause together.

The steak arrived first, beautifully charred, with pepper sauce glistening across the grill marks.
Beside it, a foil-wrapped baked potato, cracked open and melting with butter.
My husband went for the mixed grill, a generous plate of chicken, pork loin, sausage, vegetables, and that same comforting baked potato.

We didn’t talk about work or plans or what’s next.
Just small things – stories, random jokes, what to do over the weekend.

For a while, everything slowed down.
The restaurant wasn’t trying to impress, and neither were we.
We were just there – present, content, and full.

It reminded me that slowing down doesn’t always mean grand getaways or quiet mornings.
Sometimes, it’s just sitting across from the people you love, eating something warm, and letting the moment be enough.

Buddy Hoagies isn’t fine dining, but it doesn’t need to be.
It’s the kind of place where you can show up tired and leave a little lighter.

And maybe that’s what The Slow Edit is really about –
finding peace not in perfection, but in ordinary evenings like this one.
